Highland Games

ABERNETHY HIGHLAND GAMES
Second Saturday in August

Location: Playing Fields, Nethybridge. Nearest Towns: Aviemore, Grantown-on-Spey. Airport: Inverness.
Events: Heavy Events - usually including Hammer Throwing, Caber Tossing and Tug of War, Piping Competition, Track Events, Highland dancing, Spectacular March onto the field of pipers in the grand massed bands display, followed by members of the Clan Grant Society who travel from all round the world for their annual gathering. Sideshows, Stalls and Catering Tents also add to the attractions. Spectators can make a full day out by joining any of the three steam trains which leave Aviemore for Boat-of-Garten and Broomhill. Events start at 11am with the official opening at 1.30 pm followed by the entrance of the massed pipe bands and parade by the Clan Grant and the athletes. Car Parking is free.
